celebrities age

1950s country music was full of outlaw country, honky-tonk, barn burning Bluegrass, harmonious brother bands, and fevered Country Gospel. These songs were reminiscent the American West and golden age of cowboy culture. You can even find orchestral Nashville sounds and strolling country waltzes in this period. But if you're a fan of 50s country music, it's time to get acquainted with some of the genre's major players.

Outlaw country

You can trace back the origins of outlaw music in the 50s and 60s. Waylon Jennings (Willie Nelson) were among the first to make it popular. The two Nashville-based artists were veterans who led a revolt against the producers and studios. Their albums have an unmistakable "outlaw" feeling to them. But the genre was not only popular with country music fans. It also produced a new generation if country stars, such as Emmylou Harris and George Strait.

Jimmie Rodgers

When we think of Jimmie Rodgers in the 1950s, we may think of rock stars such as Chuck Berry. But in reality, he was older and married with children when he recorded these country tunes. His songs moved at a rock-and-roll pace, but the sound was more traditional country than those of Berry or Lewis. His work is still remembered by many after fifty years.
