What is the difference in an indie film and one made in a foreign language?

Independent films are usually made by one filmmaker who makes all of the decisions.

The opposite is true for foreign language films. They are usually produced by a larger production company.

They often hire actors, writer, and directors from abroad.

To ensure the dialogue sounds natural, professional translators are also hired.

What is the difference in a distributor and a producer?

Produced by a producer, the movie is produced. The distributor distributes the movie. Distributors and theaters are two options for producers to sell their movies. Distributors purchase movies directly from producers. They then sell them on to theaters or cable channels, as well as streaming services.

Distributors should negotiate with theater owners regarding where their movies are playing. This means that certain movies might be more expensive at some theaters than others. Distributors with multiple theaters are a good choice if your movie needs to be seen by as many people.

Why isn't there more crowdfunding sites such as Indiegogo and Kickstarter for filmmakers?

Crowdfunding sites can be great as they let you reach out to potential investors.

However, most filmmakers do not believe they are qualified to request money. They feel they must have someone to speak for them.

Even though they aren't yet proven to be themselves, they don't believe that anyone should put money into them.

Instead, they spend months working on their project, hoping someone will eventually notice.

They realize that they did not prepare well when they launch their campaign.

So instead of getting thousands of dollars, they end up with just a handful of donations.

What happens to my film if it doesn't do well in the box office?

A film that does poorly at the box-office could lead to many problems.

You might want to change the marketing of your film.

You might also decide to modify the script.

Third, you may decide to add characters.

Fourth, you might decide that some characters should be removed

Fifth, you might want to make some cuts.

Sixth: You might decide the film was not worth making.

How To

How to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.

You must first submit your name and address to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to become a member of HWOF. The Hollywood Department of Cultural Affairs then submits your information to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. After being approved, you will be issued a certificate stating your name, date and place of birth. It also includes information about your occupation, occupation and category. A bronze plaque with the name of your choice is included. This plaque is affixed to a concrete base in front of the designated star.

You may apply to be a star if you are nominated by a HWOF member or if you make significant contributions to television, radio, TV, theatre, music or other forms of "popular culture". A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do, they send a letter to the applicant's home address explaining their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then charges $25 and forwards the money on to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the artist or organization whose application was accepted. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pays half of the $12.50 fee to the artist or organization. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.

Once the artist has received his/her star, he/she becomes eligible to be included in the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due will depend on when you were first nominated. For example, $15,000. Suppose you were first nominated as a nominee in 1990. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.

You will need to contact Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be removed from the HWOF. They will remove you from the list.

How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?

You must be at the least 18 year old to be nominated. A person must be present at the time of receiving a star. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Family members may nominate you to be a star. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.

Why not use a new street, instead of staring at everyone?

The HWOF isn't meant to be an historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.

What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves stole approximately 1,200 stars. Each star is approximately 250-300 lbs in weight. That's about 4 tons of stars!
