How many films does Hollywood make in a given year?

Hollywood studios produce about 3,000 films each year. It's true, there are three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions advertising these films. They spend millions creating them. They also spend millions on marketing them. However, how many actually make it to the theaters?

The answer is probably around 200-300. The question is, what happens to all the other 2,700+ films? Most of them are either released direct-to-video or just sit in storage.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some have been chosen for distribution via Netflix or Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus and iTunes, Google Play and other platforms.

Hence why don't more of these films be released? They are not being released in theaters. Because they're too expensive to produce.
