What happens if my movie doesn't do well at the box office

A film that does poorly at the box-office could lead to many problems.

You might first decide to modify the way you market your movie.

The script might be rewritten.

Third, you might consider adding characters.

Fourth, you might decide that some characters should be removed

Fifth, you may decide to trim scenes.

Sixth, and you might decide that it wasn't worthwhile making the film.

Why isn't there more crowdfunding sites such as Indiegogo and Kickstarter for filmmakers?

Crowdfunding sites can be great as they let you reach out to potential investors.

Filmmakers don't feel qualified to ask for funds. They feel they need someone to stand by them.

Since they haven’t proved themselves yet, they don’t think anyone should make an investment in them.

Instead, they spend months working on their project, hoping someone will eventually notice.

They realize that they did not prepare well when they launch their campaign.

So instead of getting thousands of dollars, they end up with just a handful of donations.

How To

How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.

You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with your personalization is also provided. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.

A current HWOF member can nominate you for a star or if you have made significant contributions in movies, television or radio. A committee reviews all the nominations before deciding whether or not they are approved. If they do, they send a letter to the applicant's home address explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then charges $25 and forwards the money on to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the artist or organization whose application was accepted. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once the artist receives his/her star he/she will be eligible to be inducted into the HWOF. To be listed on the HWOF, you must pay the remaining balance owed to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The amount due depends on how many years ago you were first nominated. If you were first nominated for a nomination in 1990, your owe $15,000. For example, if your first nomination was in 1990, you would owe $15,000. However, if it had been in 1980, you would owe 10,000.

You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove you from the list.

How old is one to be eligible for a HWOF Star?

You must be at the least 18 year old to be nominated. To receive a star, one must be alive at that time. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Nominating you can be done by family members. If no relatives are living, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce may place a memorial stone in front of your star.

Why not use a new street, instead of staring at everyone?

The HWOF does not intend to be a historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.

What happened to all the stars stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250-300 lbs, so if you add up all the weight, that comes out to about 4 tons worth of stars!
