What happens if my movie doesn't do well at the box office

If your film does not do well at the box office, there are many things that could happen.

First, it is possible to decide to modify how you market the film.

You may also choose to rework your script.

You might also consider adding new characters.

Fourth, you may decide to remove certain characters.

Fifth, you might want to make some cuts.

Sixth, and you might decide that it wasn't worthwhile making the film.

Hollywood's fame?

The answer was simple. They took risks and did something different to make it popular. They had the fortitude to make films that would remain in people's minds for years.

They were also willing to try out new ideas.

Why is it that so few independent films are ever released?

Indie filmmakers are assuming that distributors will be interested in their films.

They believe distributors will pick up their films because they know the public will love their work.

But, it is very rare that this happens. Independent filmmakers are often used by distributors.

They will use techniques such as delaying the release of a movie until after the awards season has ended.

They might delay the release of low-budget films until after the summer blockbuster series has begun.

Distributors are also trying to keep films off the streets until audiences have already spent hundreds upon thousands of dollars on tickets or popcorn.

After all, they don't want to lose out on those profits.

It is called Hollywood.

D.W. Griffith created the first movie industry in California in 1887. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.

The name stuck because it was such an exciting place for people to visit. People would travel all the way from other countries to see what was happening.

Hollywood is still a part of our culture today. We have movies, television shows, music videos, commercials, etc. They are all called Hollywood.

Can I form my own distribution business?

No. A distributor is required to operate a distribution firm.

Even though you may not be distributing other people's films, you still have to follow certain rules.

You cannot charge different prices to different theaters. Additionally, fees cannot be charged to different customers.

You also can't sell your services to other companies.

How many theaters would I need in order to get my money back?

It depends on how many weeks you plan to make your theatrical production.

If you're planning to run your film for less than two weeks, you only need to open one theater.

If you're going to run your film for longer than two weeks, then at least two theaters are needed.

How To

How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 living persons listed on the HWOF.

To become a member of the HWOF, you must submit your name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then submits your name to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. A bronze plaque with the name of your choice is included. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.

If you were nominated by an HWOF member, or if there are significant contributions made to the entertainment, film, radio, theatre, and music industries, you may be eligible for a "star" award. A committee reviews all the nominations before deciding whether or not they are approved. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. A second letter confirms acceptance if the nominee accepts the nomination. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce charges $25, and then the money is sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angles.

The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the application submitted by the artist or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.

Once the artist has received his/her star, he/she becomes eligible to be included in the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due will vary depending on how long ago you were nominated. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. You would be responsible for $10,000 if you had been nominated previously in 1980.

You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove the name of your from the list.

How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. A person must be present at the time of receiving a star. After receiving a stars, one could still be nominated after ten more years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place an honorary marker in front of the star if there are no living relatives.

Why can't people choose to use a different street than having stars all over the place?

The HWOF was not created to be a historical landmark. It is intended to honor all those who have made film history possible.

What happened to the stolen stars? Around 1,200 stars were taken by the thieves. Each star weighs between 250-300 lbs, so if you add up all the weight, that comes out to about 4 tons worth of stars!
