FAQ

Are foreign sales more lucrative than domestic ones for Hollywood?

Yes, but only a little. In 2017, foreign revenues accounted for about 17% of total revenue. Domestic revenues accounted for 83%.

Over half of the world’s population is found in overseas markets.

This means many people who might never watch a movie at home will still want to see yours.

What do actors earn?

An actor's pay can vary from $1,000,000 per movie to below $100,000 for independent films. Most actors receive around $10,000 - $20,000 per film. Many actors aren't paid. It depends on how successful they are. It all depends on how successful they are.

Why aren't more independent films distributed?

Indie filmmakers tend to assume that distributors will buy their films.

They are certain distributors will take their films, as they know that the public will love them.

But this is rare. Distributors often benefit from independent filmmakers.

They use tactics such as delaying a film's release date until after awards season has ended.

They might delay the release of low-budget films until after the summer blockbuster series has begun.

Distributors are also trying to keep films off the streets until audiences have already spent hundreds upon thousands of dollars on tickets or popcorn.

They don't wish to lose those profits.

Why isn't there more crowdfunding sites such as Indiegogo and Kickstarter for filmmakers?

Crowdfunding sites are great because they allow you to reach out directly to potential investors.

But most filmmakers don't think they're qualified to ask for money. They believe they need another person to verify their claims.

Since they haven’t proved themselves yet, they don’t think anyone should make an investment in them.

Instead, they spend months working hard on their project in the hope that someone will notice.

Then, once they finally launch their campaign, they realize they didn't prepare properly.

So instead of getting thousands of dollars, they end up with just a handful of donations.

What percentage of box office profits goes to marketing?

Marketing budgets usually account for anywhere from 20%-40% of a film's budget. Because marketing is vital to any film's success,

Marketing is the only way to make sure that your film is known. It is impossible to get people to pay for your film without knowing all about it.

How many movies is Hollywood making in a single year?

Each year, Hollywood studios produce approximately 3,000 films. Yes, that's correct, three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions advertising these films. They spend millions on their production. They spend millions to promote them. How many end up being released in theaters?

It's probably between 200-300. What happens to the 2,700+ additional films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some of these have been selected to be distributed via Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu Plus.

We should see more of them. They're not available in theaters. Because they are too expensive to make.

They would be released in theaters if they were less expensive to produce.

This is where I come in. I will assist you in finding the best possible method to release your movie in theaters.

I will show you how to maximize the return on your investment (ROI), and increase your chances of seeing your film in theaters.

Because let's face it...

It can be very difficult to get your film in theaters. It is a complex, long-winded and complicated process that requires a lot of legalities.

It can also come at a high cost before you even begin.

It is even more difficult to distribute your film within a limited timeframe.

There isn't enough time in between the time a movie is finished and when its theatrical run starts.

How To

How to get a Hollywood Walk of Fame star

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF is located in Los Angeles at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.

To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you have been approved, you will be given a certificate that shows your name and details, including date of birth, place of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with your name inscribed on it is also included. This plaque will be attached to a base of concrete in front the designated star.

If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they do, they send a letter to the applicant's home address explaining their decision. A second letter confirms acceptance if the nominee accepts the nomination. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce then sends $25 to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a check payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which sends the check to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays any artist or organization that submitted an application. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs takes the other half.

After an artist has received his/her Star, he/she can be eligible for the HWOF. To be included in the HWOF, your balance must be paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. If you were first nominated for a nomination in 1990, your owe $15,000. If you were nominated for the first time in 1990, you would owe $15,000.

You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove you from the list.

How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?

To be nominated, one must be at least 18 years. To receive a Star, one must still be living at the time. After receiving a Star, one can still be Nominated for another star after ten Years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Your family members can nominate you for a star. If no relatives are living, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce may place a memorial stone in front of your star.

Why not use a new street, instead of staring at everyone?

The HWOF doesn't intend to be historical monument. It is meant to honor those who contributed to film history.

What happened to the stars that got stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star is between 250-300 lbs. If you add all of the weight together, it comes to approximately 4 tons of stars!
