FAQ

Does Hollywood make more money from foreign sales than domestic sales?

Yes, but not very much. Around 17% of total revenue came from foreign sources in 2017. 83% of total revenue came from domestic sources.

More than half of the world’s population lives in foreign markets.

This means that even those who have never seen a movie at their home, many will still be interested in your movie.

What's the difference between an indie film and a foreign language film?

A single filmmaker usually makes an independent film. He or she makes all the decisions.

A foreign language film, on the other hand is usually produced by a larger production crew.

They often hire writers and actors from other nations.

You can also find professional translators to make the dialogue sound natural.

Is the Hollywood Walk of Fame free?

Yes! To visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame, you don't need to pay anything. To take photos of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, however, you will need to apply for a permit. This costs $15 per person.

You must have a valid identification if you plan to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

If you are below 18 years old, you must accompany someone 21-years-old or older.

You cannot enter the walkway until 10 am.

Once inside, you may not leave the walkway without paying again.

Cameras are not permitted inside the walkway.

Why is it that so few independent films are ever released?

Indie filmmakers are assuming that distributors will be interested in their films.

Because they are confident that the public will love their film, they believe distributors would be willing to buy it.

But this is rare. Independent filmmakers are often used by distributors.

They might delay a film’s release date until after the awards show has finished.

Or they delay the release date of a low-budget film until after the summer blockbuster season has begun.

Distributors also try to keep films away from audiences until they've already spent hundreds of dollars on tickets, popcorn, or candy.

They don't want these profits to be lost.

Is Hollywood larger than Bollywood?

Producing films that are well-received is the most difficult challenge.

Problem is that many movies are competing for people's money and time. And if you don't stand out from the crowd, you won't have much chance of getting watched.

But what makes a movie great? What makes an actor a star? Or a director? It's not just talent - it's also luck. The best actors may be the best, but they will not succeed if they are writing bad scripts.

Films can be divided into two categories: blockbuster films with large budgets or independent productions. Producing and distributing blockbuster movies can cost hundreds of millions. These blockbuster movies are usually produced by big studios who want their movies to reach as broad an audience as possible. However, these films with big budgets appeal mostly to older viewers.

Independent films are generally smaller-scale productions that may be financed by individuals or groups of investors. These films often focus on niche markets and cater to specific tastes. These films are often less expensive to produce or market. However, this does not mean they are always less expensive to watch. In fact, most indie films are very hard to find.

So, the question is, do we need both kinds of films? Is it necessary to have both blockbuster and independent movies? Well, I think that Hollywood is actually bigger than Bollywood. Hollywood makes almost twice the number of movies each year than India.

Why don't more filmmakers use crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo?

Crowdfunding sites are great because they allow you to reach out directly to potential investors.

But most filmmakers don't think they're qualified to ask for money. They feel they must have someone to speak for them.

And since they haven't proven themselves yet, they don't think anyone should invest in them.

Instead, they spend many months working on the project in hopes that someone will notice.

Then they realize that they didn't properly prepare for the launch of their campaign.

They end up with only a few donations, instead of thousands of dollars.

What is the annual salary of Hollywood?

It costs about $100 million to make an average movie. If you produced ten movies per year for a decade you would have enough money to purchase a small country.

Your island would be yours, complete with an airport, power plant, bank, post office, police force, fire department, school system, hospital, sports stadium, theater, and cinema.

If that doesn’t sound like fun, you must be insane.
